Aspirant DCS Programme information for sponsors

The Aspirant DCS Programme is for individuals who aspire to the role of DCS or chief officer with responsibility for children’s services. All programme participants require sponsorship from their line manager or other appropriate senior colleague.

The sponsor will provide a participant with one-to-one support that is rooted in the practical realities of the role. They will act as both a mentor and a critical friend, providing practical support as well as professional challenge to enhance learning. Their role will commence with the application process and will continue throughout the duration of the programme. It is expected that a sponsor will either be the participant’s line manager or other appropriate senior colleague, who can provide the required information in the sponsor nomination form.
